Location: Upper School, Room 141
Program Description: This course will help you start the year off right, refreshed and ready to face you Algebra I course! We'll review critical pre-algebra concepts and learn foundational algebra concepts that will put you ahead of the game this school year. Creative, hands-on activities, including games, will make the learning interactive and fun. Topics covered will include fractions, decimals, percentages, proportions, integers, absolute value, exponents, algebraic equations, and graph/lines. Students will work individually and in groups, they will also use computers to review learned skills. A pre-test and post-test will be given to gauge progress through the week. At the end of the week, you'll be able to approach Algebra I with confidence this fall.
What to Bring: Pencils, Scratch Paper, Notebook, and Calculator
Instructor: Ben Gabin earned his BA in International relations from Tufts University. He has worked for four years as a tutor and now owns his own tutoring company, Circles Tutoring, where he specializes in SAT and ACT prep, math for all ages, study success skills, and Spanish. He has also previously worked as a math and Spanish teacher and strives to make learning interactive and fun to engage his students.
