Summer Stage Band Camp

Dates: June 17-21, 2019

Time: 9:00 am-3:00 pm

Age/Gender: Rising 7th-9th Grades, Coed

Location: Fine Arts Center, Band Room

Cost: $275

Program Description: Campers will spend the week learning a wide variety of band music in pop, rock and roll, and jazz styles, and then present a concert on the last day of camp. Students with experience playing piano, drum set, string bass and guitar and who can read/perform music written specifically for these instruments will be welcomed!

Summer Stage Band camp is open to all 7th-9th students who have at least one year of experience in a Middle School aged band program. Rising 6th graders may be considered, but will need prior approval from the instructor. You can contact Mr. Pendergrass, by emailing him at:

What to Bring: Campers will need to provide their own instruments, a lunch and snack, and a water bottle.

Instructor: Bill Pendergrass
holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Virginia Wesleyan College, a Master of Divinity in Church Music from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and is certified in Music Education through Campbell University. He has over 30 years of experience as a consultant, instructor and arranger for a variety of high school wind ensembles, marching bands, percussion ensembles and hand bell choirs throughout the Southeast. Mr. Pendergrass has been employed at Ravenscroft School since 1994. He has received the Helton Award (1999) and the O’Herron Distinguished Faculty Award (2005). He has also been included in Who’s Who Among American Teachers in 1998, 1999 and 2004. In 2011 he was inducted into the American School Band Directors Association. In 2013 he was presented with the Award of Excellence from the North Carolina Bandmasters Association and the Central District Bandmasters Association. During his tenure at Ravenscroft, the band program has earned numerous awards and recognitions for its performing excellence. Mr. Pendergrass is the retired webmaster for the North Carolina Bandmasters Association and the Central District Bandmasters Association and is an endorser for MakeMusic, Inc. Mr. Pendergrass is also proud to be a charter member of the North Carolina Barbecue Society where he is able to pursue his favorite hobby: sampling barbecue from across the state.
