Fall GoPlaySave Fundraiser Powers the PA

We hope you'll enjoy this new feature, which highlights our hardworking parent-led organizations and the volunteers who make it all happen! Stay tuned for more spotlights on parent groups!

You probably know the Parents’ Association as the volunteer powerhouse behind many of your favorite community-building events at Ravenscroft — from parent coffees and teacher appreciation lunches to RWorld and the bi-annual gala — but for the last 10 years they’ve also partnered with students and families in a simple yet effective fundraiser that provides essential funding for all that fun: the GoPlaySave coupon book sale.

According to Aeri Meyers and Audrey Pacca, the PA’s GPS co-chairs, this program is a great fit for Ravenscroft because everyone can get involved. Read on to learn more about this workhorse fundraiser and the many ways it benefits the community.

1. In what ways is the GoPlaySave coupon book sales a great fit as a PA fundraiser?

GoPlaySave is a great fit as a PA fundraiser because it allows everyone through all three divisions in the entire Ravenscroft community to participate, contribute and even win rewards! Parents, students, faculty and staff can all sell books. Additionally, everyone can benefit and utilize the discounts (digitally or through the book) too! They also offer discounts and books for our family and friends who live in the surrounding area. One of our top-selling students sold the majority of her subscriptions for the GoPlaySave Chapel Hill/Durham book.

Since the fundraiser was first introduced on campus in 2009, the total amount raised to support the school is over $150,000!

2. What do you think are the best bargains the book offers?

Some of the best bargains in the book can be obtained if you are planning a birthday party at Defy Gravity (20% off), Galaxy Fun Park (10% off) or Defy in Apex (10% off). Some of the most utilized are the discounts to Dick’s Sporting Goods, AutoWash Express, and Moe’s. A friend’s husband personally likes the Ace Hardware, as does mine, and their older children use the Autowash Express coupons, they save $9+ on each car wash!

3. Who were the top student sellers for each division?

Lower School: Amaris Grace Riley (PreK)
Middle School: Olivia Meyers ’24
Upper School: Daya Durham ’21

4. Who were the parent volunteers that contributed to the success of the sale?

We’d like to thank the many parents who came to help pack books and those who participated in selling the books.

Our wonderful parent volunteers have also made these other fall events and programs possible. Thank you, parents!

We value every contribution our volunteers make! If your name has inadvertently been left off a list, please contact Tammy Haywood.
