Eighth-Graders Get Send-Off to New Challenges, Opportunities

Ravenscroft’s eighth-graders and their family and friends celebrated their major milestone on Friday, May 22, with the traditional closing exercises, held via Zoom.

Head of School Doreen Kelly welcomed everyone to the virtual ceremony.

“You’ve led with curiosity and now resilience,” she said to the students. “I have no doubt that you will be ready to head to Upper School and take your Lead From Here skills and make a huge impact.”

Denise Colpitts, retiring Head of Middle School, then addressed the students, acknowledging the challenges that came with spending the fourth quarter at home for remote learning.

“This was your last year in Middle School. Spending time with your friends mattered in this special year, and together you looked forward to the end of Middle School, a remarkable accomplishment. We are acknowledging this special time today. It came in a different way than any of us expected … And yet, we persevered,” she said.

Eighth-Grade Dean Sarah Baker sent her eighth-graders best wishes and reflected on their accomplishments and experiences from this year. She shared a slideshow of memories from this year.

Advisors then announced the names of each of their students. Watch the video ceremony here

Congratulations and best wishes to these students as they head to Upper School!
