Philanthropy Supports Technology, Facility Enhancements

 Back to Table of Contents

A gift from parents Amelia and Michael Warner, who in 2018 established the Warner Family Endowment for Technology & Innovation, funded two critical technology needs for the new school year: upgrades of faculty and student Chromebooks and the purchase of Meeting OWL Pros. The OWL units, which have been installed in each teaching space on campus, include an integrated camera, microphone and speaker that capture classroom activities and allow students working from home to interact with their teachers and classmates in real time.

The addition of Meeting Owl Pros to learning spaces across campus means Ravens teaching and learning at home enjoy a fully integrated experience with classes on campus.

In addition, a space in the A.E. Finley Activity Center has been given new life, thanks to a challenge from parents Pablo Martinez and Maria Adamik-Martinez during last winter’s Fund-A-Need live auction event. The room — located above the new weight room — originally overlooked the auxiliary gym but was enclosed in the 1980s. With this renovation, a wall of windows now provides the area with natural light, and equipment supporting cardio, conditioning and stretching has been installed. The cardio and conditioning room will be open during the construction of the Center for Student Life and, as Associate Head of School for Philanthropy Phil Higginson said, will “pair nicely with the new yoga and meditation space.”

The Finley Center’s new cardio and conditioning space adds to the suite of health and wellness facilities Ravenscroft is providing for its students and employees.
