Two Ravens, Dylan Norona ’22 and Adrian Tong ’21, recently received top honors in the North Carolina Asian American Coalition’s 2021 Young Entrepreneurship and Innovation Contest.

The NCAAC “proactively advocates legislative actions and policies that benefit the Asian American community in North Carolina” and focuses on cultivating the next generation of Asian American leaders, encouraging young people to engage in civic duties.

In partnership with the International Leadership Foundation’s North Carolina chapter (ILF NC), NCAAC’s annual Young Entrepreneurship and Innovation Contest explores and fosters the “innovative entrepreneurial talents of young Asian Americans by encouraging candidates to brainstorm new and innovative policies and technologies following the post-pandemic world.”

Members of both ILF NC and NCAAC, Dylan and Adrian teamed up, submitted an application and made their presentation on reforming the nursing home inspection system in North Carolina — winning the top prize. According to the official press release, their recommendations could save taxpayers $14 million per year.

Adrian and Dylan were honored by Hannah Chan, chair of ILF NC; Joel Szabat, founder of ILF and former acting under secretary of transportation; and Chiling Tong, founding president of ILF, president of National Asian/Pacific Islander American Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneurship and former deputy assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Recently, Dylan was promoted to chief editor of the Asian News Network.

Congratulations to Dylan and Adrian!
