Ravenscroft varsity wrestling won their sixth consecutive Triangle Independent Schools Athletic Conference Championship on Thursday, Feb. 7. At the event, held at Cary Academy, 12 Ravenscroft wrestlers were crowned as conference champions, and two finished as runners-up.
"The team is carrying some good momentum into the state tournament, as we got two recent team tournament wins under our belt and solid production from young wrestlers," wrestling coach Garrett Cummings (pictured with team, second from right) said. "I'm incredibly proud of the way the seniors led the charge at TISACs, with all four seniors being named conference champs."
"Sam Tabet '19 won his fourth conference title, which only Calvin Atkeson '18 and Ian Conley '17 have done previously. First-year wrestlers Ryan Pretzer '22 and Dominic Young-Smith '20 earned conference titles, which is such a positive result for two guys who have had to learn the sport on the fly with plenty of adversity this year," he added. "Holistically, the guys did well to follow the coaching plan this week and get their hands raised in tight matches. We're looking forward to making a splash at the state finals."
The North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association Championships are scheduled for this Friday, Feb. 15, and Saturday, Feb. 16, at Asheville School in Asheville. Best of luck to the team!
