Varsity Track and Field Has Good Showing At TISAC Championships

Ravenscroft varsity girls track and field finished second in the TISAC Championships, held Saturday, May 11, at Cary Academy. The girls were led by Kirsten Debrah '20 (top photo, second from left), who won the long jump at 16-00 feet. Kirsten also scored a third-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.24 seconds and second-place finish in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.65.

The boys team finished in third place, led by Alex Marchi '20 (bottom photo, at center), who won the triple jump with a distance of 43-09 3/4. Alex also took second place in the 110 and 300 hurdles with times of 16.87 and 40.84, respectively.

  • Shotput: 1st, Talia Granick '21, 30-5 1/2
  • Long Jump: 2nd; Zoe King '22, 15-05 1/2
  • 100 hurdles: 2nd; Kirstin Debrah '20, 16.65.
  • 100 hurdles: 3rd; Caroline Davis '22, 17.65.
  • 400: 2nd; Elise Playe '20, 1:03.68.
  • 200: 2nd; Morgan Debrah '22, 27.35.

Boys Top 3 Finishers

  • Long jump: 2nd; Davis Lambert '19, 20-05 1/2.
  • Pole vault: 2nd; Nate Margraf '20, 11-06.
  • High jump: 2nd; Corey Taylor '21, 5-04.
  • High jump: 3rd; Davis Lambert '19, 5-04.
  • 100: 3rd; Corey Taylor '21, 11.52.

Coach Mike McConeghy said of the team's performance at the TISAC meet, "This was a very competitive event, with the girls team finishing as the runner-up by a difference of only 10 points. Our boys team performed well and beat projections by finishing third."

Our athletes will next compete in the NCISAA Championships, taking place at Canon School in Concord May 17-18. Good luck, Ravens!
