Ravenscroft Honors 14 Seniors Headed for College Athletics

Fourteen Ravenscroft seniors who plan to play sports at the collegiate level were recognized at a reception on Friday, April 30. Their college commitments are the culmination of years of hard work and dedication to their sports.

"We are extremely proud of these student-athletes who have represented Ravenscroft in our athletic program during their time here. They each have worked hard to develop their skills and talents, and we're proud that they will use them in future years to compete at the college level," Athletic Director and head varsity football coach Ned Gonet said. "We look forward to watching their progress in the upcoming years and truly wish them much success."

Jane Atkeson '21

Jane is a member of the first women's 8+ boat in North Carolina history to go to Youth Nationals and a member of the first boat in North Carolina history to receive an automatic rebid from Head of the Charles Regatta. Her boat finished in the Top 20 at Head of the Charles two years in a row (2018, 2019). Jane is a member of the USRowing High-Performance Team (2018). Jane will continue her career at Duke University.

Thomas Brown '21

Thomas earned six varsity letters in three sports during his two years as a Raven. He was a two-sport captain for football and basketball. In football, he was a two-time All-Big East Conference performer and two-time NCISAA All-State honoree. He also played basketball and ran track. TB will continue his football career at Butler University in Indianapolis.

Tre Corrigan '21

Tre a letter-winner and 2020-21 captain for basketball under Coach Kevin Billerman. Tre was recognized with the 2021 team's Coaches Award and earned an Honorable Mention All-TISAC. Tre will continue his basketball career at Sewanee, The University of the South.

Siena Emoubor '21

Siena is a two-time letter-winner in basketball for Coach Mike Ramel. This season Siena was a team captain and named the Team's Most Improved Player. She will continue her basketball career for the Tigers of Colorado College in Colorado Springs.

Charlie Enloe '21

Charlie is a three-time letter winner in lacrosse at attack for the Ravens. He also is a two-time letter winner in varsity football as a wide receiver, defensive back and long snapper. Charlie will continue his lacrosse career for the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College in Belmont.

Caitlyn Hankins '21

Caitlyn is a four-time letter winner in lacrosse and earned three other letters in cross country and basketball. Her lacrosse accolades include a 2019 All-East HSOT selection, a two-time NCISAA All-State honoree and a two-time TISAC All-Conference performer. Caitlyn was selected for the North Carolina state team in the 2018 National Tournament/Seneca Division and the 2019 National Tournament/Oneida Division. Caitlyn will continue her lacrosse career at Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania.

Emily Hitt '21

As part of the Ravens soccer team, Emily is a 2019 NCISAA All-State, All-TISAC,and Team MVP. She was a 2017 and 2018 Olympic Development Program selection. For the last two years, Emily has played for the U19 NC Courage Academy. She will continue her career on the pitch at Colorado College in Colorado Springs.

Audrey Hughes '21

Audrey is a nine-time letter winner at Ravenscroft, participating in volleyball, basketball and lacrosse. She has been a mainstay in goal for Coach Kerry Normen on the lacrosse field. Audrey will continue playing lacrosse for the Big Red at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

Kyle Kushnir '21

Kyle a five-time letter winner and three-time All-TISAC performer for Coach Phillip Shelton. Kyle was recently named the 2021 TISAC Player of the Year. He is currently the number-one ranked golfer in the NCISAA 4A classification. Kyle will continue his golf career at Western Carolina University.

Lea Lambert '21

Lea is a three-star recruit on Tennis Recruiting Network, where she has been ranked as high as No. 10 in North Carolina. She has won several tournaments, including the Cary Summer Championship, Snow Hill Championship, Old Forest Jr. Open doubles and the Mercedes Benz of Cary Junior Championship. Lea will continue her tennis career at Marist College in Dutchess County, New York.

Gavin Mathan '21

Gavin is a three-year starter at quarterback and three-time letter winner in football for Coach Ned Gonet. Gavin, a captain in 2020, leaves Ravenscroft as the third all-time leading passer for yards and touchdown passes. He will play football at Pomona-Pitzer College in Claremont, California, next fall.

Bode Ringenbach '21

Bode is a four-time NCISAA State Champion in the 100 Breaststroke and 500 Freestyle and a two-time winner of the 200 Freestyle. He's a two-time High School Swimming All-American in the 100 Breaststroke and the Eastern Sectional Winner in the 200 Breaststroke. Bode is also a Junior National finalist in the 200 Breaststroke. He was selected by the Raleigh Sports Club as their Student-Athlete of the Week for March 22, 2021. He was named the Team's Most Valuable Player in 2021. Bode is a three-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American who will continue his swimming career at George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Ben Russell '21

Ben finished his Ravenscroft swimming career as a TISAC Conference Champion in multiple individual and relay events. Ben consistently placed in the Top 5 at the State Championship meet in the 500 Freestyle and 200 Individual Medley each season. At the 2021 State Championship Meet, he placed second in both of those events, along with placing second in both the 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle relays. His 200 Medley Relay time at the State Championship meet broke the school record dating back to 2003. Ben will continue his swimming career at New York University.

Oliver Sheikhli '21

Oliver is a four-time letter winner in soccer. He leaves Ravenscroft as one of the most decorated soccer players in recent school history. He is a two-time NCISAA All-State honoree, a two-time All-Region player, a two-time TISAC All-Conference Player, and was the 2020 Boys Soccer TISAC Player of the Year. Recently he was recognized as Honorable Mention All-State by The HSOT for all classifications. Oliver scored 51 career goals and will continue his soccer career for the Terriers of Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
