On Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, Ravenscroft's student-led Crucial Catch Team along with Phil Higginson, assistant head of school for institutional advancement, presented the American Cancer Society with a check for $19K during halftime of the football game. Last year, Ravenscroft was the top fundraising high school team in the nation for NFL Crucial Catch and are on track to earn that distinction again this year, with several fundraising activities still in the works.
Claire Ziperski '20 and Brynley Jonson '20 led the team, Ravens Fighting Against Cancer, in raising money in support of the partnership between the National Football League and the American Cancer Society, which funds cancer screenings, treatment and research.
"We are very proud of our Ravens fighting against cancer," Higginson said. "Claire and Brynley have done an outstanding job focusing their team on helping others and drawing attention to the cause. Through very personalized efforts, they have brought a renewed sense of awareness to the importance of research, screening and early cancer detection."
Through a combination of efforts culminating during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, team members — including Delaney Washington '22, Bea Holdstock '22, Georgia Winston '22, Cole Stefiel '20, Andrew Gould '20, Gavin Mathan '20, Zoë Glasgow '20, Preston Bishop '19, Val Edwards '19 and Charlie Winston '19 — have organized multiple fundraisers on campus and in partnership with local businesses.
There are still ways to join the fight and support and support the Ravenscroft Crucial Catch team.
