Middle School Art Students Win at Local Arts Festival

Seven Middle School art students won a total of 11 awards in the Women's Club of Raleigh and The Junior Women's Club of Raleigh 2019 Student Arts Festival. The annual competition for students in sixth through 12th grade includes categories for photography, crafts and visual arts.

Congratulations to the following students who won awards on the local level in the annual Women's Club Art competition:

  • Jasmine Tran '23: 1st place, Acrylic Painting (pictured at right)
  • Jasmine Tran '23: 1st place, Graphics (scratchboard design)
  • Sophia Hopper '24: 1st place, Graphite Pencil Drawing
  • Olivia Rivera '25: 1st place, Printmaking
  • Jasmine Tran '23: 2nd place, Pen and Ink
  • Olivia Meyers '24: 2nd place, Printmaking
  • Jae Ramsey '23: 2nd place, Graphics (scratchboard design)
  • Olivia Rivera '25: 3rd place, Graphite Pencil Drawing
  • Jae Ramsey '23: 3rd place, Pen and Ink
  • Kayla Nickson '23: 3rd place, Graphics (scratchboard design )
  • Shirley Yang '25: 3rd place, Printmaking

All first- and second-place winners go on to the district level. Students who take top honors at districts will go on to the state level.

The award-winning acrylic painting by Jasmine Tran '25 was also featured on the cover of Fine Arts Magazine.
