Happy #croftGRADitutde and Thanksgiving Ravenscroft Alumni! We've been able to spotlight Dr. Jonathan Avery and Mr. Bill Pendergrass over the course of the month, and today we are featuring Mrs. Kerry Norman. Mrs. Norman holds many hats across the Ravenscroft community, and we are lucky to have her in the 'Croft family!
Name and Title: Kerry Norman, Upper School Faculty Member (Physical Education & Health), Assistant Athletic Director, Head Coach Varsity Field Hockey and Lacrosse
How long you have been at Ravenscroft? I came to Ravenscroft in the fall of 2006 - so this is my 12th year!
What do you love about your job? I am very lucky in that the students I teach and the colleagues I work with all appreciate the special environment we have at Ravenscroft. Because of that, there is a positive vibe on campus. I love that our students want to be challenged and meet those challenges with a growth-mindset. It makes coming to work each day a pleasure.
What is your favorite Ravenscroft moment? My favorite moments are all the "firsts" that I've witnessed in the years I have been at Ravenscroft. The first time our field hockey team beat DA. The first time we played a girl's lacrosse game on campus. The first time a student-athlete went on to play field hockey or lacrosse in college. However, I am extremely blessed because I also get to see "firsts" every single day. The first time a student hits a pitched ball. The first time a student does a pull-up after weeks of trying. The first time a student breaks an 8-minute mile or serves a volleyball over the net. Seeing those "firsts" happen will always be my favorite moments.
What is something people may not know about you? I have played ice hockey since I was four years old. I played in college (as well as field hockey and lacrosse) and I still enjoy playing on a weekly basis. I love watching the Hurricanes play!
