Celebrating Thanksgiving with Grandparents and Special Friends
Celebrating Thanksgiving with Grandparents and Special Friends

Today Ravenscroft students, faculty and staff reflected upon and honored our many blessings during the annual Thanksgiving Chapel and the Lower School program for grandparents and special friends.

Bell Ringers Amir Britton '21 and Charles Cook '21 began the celebration with the ringing of the campus bell to signal Middle and Upper School students, faculty, staff and guests to chapel. With a warm welcome, Head of School Doreen Kelly announced our honorary "Head of School for the Day" Oliver Fesko '23, who led us in the Pledge ofAllegiance.

The community enjoyed hymns led by Sunishka Desphande '22, Taylor Fagan '22 and Bek Campbell '19; beautiful prayers led by Mrs. Amelia Karpowitz, Lower School art instructor, and Katie Shearin '19, and reflections on the meaning of Thanksgiving by Mr. Ed Yohman, Middle School service learning and activities coordinator.

The afternoon was filled with smiles and joy as our Lower School community welcomed grandparents and special friends for a program filled with musical performances from students in all grade levels, followed by classroom visits.

Lyons Berger '30 introduced the program and performers for the day. Grandparents Jim and Harriett Ritcher, joined by grandson James '29, gave the opening prayer. Olivia Rivera '25 and Eleanor Mezzullo '25 spoke of the meaning of Thanksgiving. The closing poem, "Giving Thanks," was recited by Lower School Drama Troupe members Ruby Fincher '25, Eleanor Mezzullo '25, Mary Frances Ramsey '25 and Kate Tyler '25. Pre-kindergarten teacher Mrs. Betsy Barnett closed with a prayer.

We wish you and your family a safe, wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving.
