Coaches

  • Head Coach
  • Assistant CoachRocco Carbone joined Ravenscroft in
    Rocco Carbone joined Ravenscroft in 2015 as a substitute teacher. He was the 2016 JV Girls Asst. Lacrosse coach along with Michelle Then. Last year, 2016-17, he was an asst. middle school wrestling coach and a varsity asst. track coach. Coach Carbone graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois in 1977 with a B.A. degree in Physical Education, coaching, athletic training and health. He played football as a receiver/back and was a member of the track team, participating in ¼ mile, sprints, relays, and field events. Coach Carbone has taught and coached over 30 years in Cody, WY; Davenport, Iowa; Rock Island, Illinois; Denver, CO; West Johnston High School, Johnston County, NC; Githens Middle School, Durham, NC, and Ravenscroft. Coach Carbone earned a M.A. degree in Bilingual/ESL (Linguistically Different), University of Colorado, Boulder, CO 1991. Coach Carbone is a member of the John Lynch Foundation Star of the month/year selection committee. Coach Carbone received a $25,000 PE grant from the NFL’s Play 60 Program, 2011. He has been on the Colorado/Denver Public Schools PE/Health Standards committee, Denver Public Schools middle school coach of the year, 1997, 2000, and 2005. His middle football teams won seven city championships. In addition, he was the Denver director for the NFL FACT/ACADEMIC PROGRAM, 1991-1997. Who’s Who among American Teacher, 2004, 2005, and 2006.
  • Assistant Coach
    Margaret Edwards ‘13 was a lifer at Ravenscroft, and then attended UNCW for two years and graduated from NC State in 2017. She competed in track and field from 7th grade through her senior year of college and graduated with a degree in Spanish Education. In college, Margaret won first place in women’s high jump in the 2015 CAA conference meet and achieved MVP in women’s field events at UNCW for 2013-2014. Her personal best in the high jump is 5’8.75 and still holds the school record at Ravenscroft. Margaret was an ACC scholar-athlete is currently a Spanish substitute and intern for all levels at Ravenscroft and I will be moving to Chile in July to teach English.

    Rhian Sigman joined Ravenscroft in 2017 as the Assistant Track & Field Coach. Rhian coaches the long, triple & high jump, as well as hurdles and the pole vault. While attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Rhian was the ACC Champion in the pole vault in 2005. She also helped the tar heels win the Indoor and Outdoor ACC Championship titles in 2004.
