For the fourth year in a row, Ravenscroft's student-led fundraising team for Crucial Catch has been recognized as the top fundraising school in the nation, exceeding their goal of $30,000 by more than $6,000, and once again winning the prestigious Pink Cleat Award.
David Hood began coaching Track and Field at Ravenscroft in 2007, primarily specializing in pole vault. Prior to Ravenscroft, he was a volunteer coach at Leesville HS. Coach Hood competed collegiately for the University of Virginia, where he was team captain and earned All-ACC honors in the pole vault. He continues to compete at the Masters level in the vault and several multi-event categories (decathlon, heptathlon and pentathlon). Coach Hood has lived in Raleigh for 31yrs, both of his children attended Ravenscroft and his full time job is in sales leadership for a top software company.
Jim ran Cross Country and Track at Satellite High School in Florida, finishing Top 10 in the State individually his Senior year in both Cross Country and Track. He went on to run Cross Country and Track at Florida State University competing all 4 years. He continued running after school, while also working at running specialty shoe stores, owning a Race Timing company, and putting on local running camps for runners of all ages and abilities. He has helped coach several Middle and High School teams when his work schedule permitted. Jim is looking forward to coaching full time at Ravenscroft, and sharing his passion for running while helping kids reach their full potential athletically and personally. His goal is to build teams that compete for the State Championship on a yearly basis.
