Coach Long joined the faculty at Ravenscroft in the fall of 1984, teaching physical education in the Lower and Middle school. He currently teaches grades 1-4 and grade 8 P.E. along with a health unit in eighth grade. He received his B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he played baseball for the Spartans. Coach Long is currently the Head Coach of the J.V. football team and Head Coach of the J.V. baseball team. He formerly was the Head coach of the Varsity baseball team, earning recognition as the 2004 NCISAA Coach of the Year. Coach Long also works at many of Ravenscroft’s summer camps including the football, basketball, and baseball camps.
Assistant CoachDamone Brown joined Ravenscroft Athletics in 2017 as a junior varsity football coach. Prior to coming to Ravenscroft, Coach Brown spent several years as a 13U assistant coach for youth football and coached travel wrestling in the Maryland Metro area. Coach Brown was part of the 1994 Alabama 6A HS State Champion track and field team. Coach Brown was a student athlete at the University of Maryland as a part of the football and track and field teams. After graduation, Coach Brown joined the army earning the coveted "Green Beret" and Ranger Tab and served in the U.S. Army's Special Forces until being critically injured in an IED blast while on patrol in Afghanistan. He earned his Master's from Liberty University and currently serves as a chaplain to the Green Beret Foundation.
