Welcome to Ravenscroft! On this page, specifically designed for our new families, you will find timelines for upcoming events, required forms, guidance on choosing classes, school supply lists and much more.

Join us for New Family Orientation on Friday, August 16. 

9-10 a.m.- Lower School (Lower School Gym)
10:30-11:30 a.m.- Middle School (Jones Theatre/Middle School)
12-1:30 p.m.- Upper School Parents (Dining Hall)
12-1:30 p.m.- Upper School Students (Upper School)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Ravenscroft's Opening of School Email is sent on Thursday, August 1, 2019, and contains essential information related to starting the school year. You will find most of the information you'll need in this important communication from the school. New parent usernames and passwords for Veracross will be emailed in early July. This page, the Newly Enrolled Portal, will be taking down on Aug. 1, after the Opening of School email is sent.

  • Parent Portal (Veracross) access will be emailed.

August

  • Summer Grade-Level Events:
    • Dates are determined by grade-level representatives (GLR) each summer. Your GLR(s) will be in touch with you.
    • GLRs are members of the Parents' Association.
  • August 1: Opening of School Email will include information about the Lead From Here framework, a list of teams and cocurricular activities, school schedule, handbook, curriculum guide, dress code and dining information.
    • Class Lists are shared August 1 through the Opening of School Mailing
  • Friday, August 16: New Student Orientation, Jones Theatre, 9-10 a.m.
    • Extended Day orientation will take place during the New Student Orientation. Details to be confirmed at a later date. 
  • Thursday, August 15 (updated): New Family Barbecue at Pugh Pond. More details will be shared via email in July.
  • After-School Offerings: The official list of offerings and schedule will be sent to all Lower School families.
  • Before school starts, you can add money to your student's dining account. More information will be included in the Opening of School Email.

September

  • Lower School Parent Night is Thursday, August 29, 6:30-8:30 p.m., starting in Jones Theatre.

June/July

August

  • August 1: Opening of school email will include information about our Lead From Here framework, a list of teams and cocurricular activities, school schedule, handbook, curriculum guide, dress code and dining information.
  • Thursday, August 15 (updated): New Family Barbecue at Pugh Pond. More details will be shared via email in July.
  • Friday, August 16: New Student Orientation, Jones Theatre. 10:30-11:30 a.m.
    • Extended Day orientation will take place during the New Student Orientation. Details to be confirmed at a later date. 
  • Monday, August 19: Schedules and advisory information available
  • Tuesday, August 20: First Day of School
    • Orientation for all students, dismissal at noon
    • Sports Team lunches and practice, noon
  • Chromebooks will be distributed to all sixth-grade students in the first few weeks of school.
  •  Before school starts, you can add money to your student's dining account. More information will be included in the Opening of School Email.

September

  • Wednesday, Sept. 4: Middle School Parent Night, 6:30-8:30 p.m., starting in Jones Theatre
  • Parent Meetings (more details to come): 
    • Coffee and Meeting: Sept. 19, 8-9 a.m.
    • Community Conversation: Oct. 15, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
    • Lunch and Learn, Feb. 11: Noon-1 p.m.
    • Community Conversation: March 12, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Welcome to Upper School!

June/July

  • Late May/Early June: Call to schedule new family meeting/bring final report card/transcript (details in May letter)
  • First week in June: 
    • Placement test dates (TBD). Department chairs will recommend appropriate placement in classes.   
    • If you have not already done so, call or stop by Upper School office to schedule new family meeting for mid-June/July, after the placement test has been taken and students have been placed in classes by the department chairs. 
  • Summer:
    • Purchase text books (many will be provided by school), following new family meeting.
    • Summer reading assignments. Purchase here
    • AP US History summer reading will be sent later.
  • Parent Portal (Veracross) access will be emailed in July. 

August

  • Supply Lists: There is not a set supply list for Upper School. Students may choose to bring whatever supplies they wish.
