Ravenscroft Communications

School leadership and the eighth-grade advisors shared reflections and well-wishes for the Class of 2025 in a pre-recorded presentation shared with families on Friday, May 28

School leadership and the eighth-grade advisors shared reflections and well-wishes for the Class of 2025 in a pre-recorded presentation shared with families on Friday, May 28.

Enjoy the video presentation in its entirety or read the event program. Time markers for each part of the presentation are included below.

The presentation began with a song by the Sixth-Grade and Middle School Choirs, “We Won’t Stop Dreaming” by PINKZEBRA. The Head of School Doreen Kelly and Head of Middle School Tinnie Salzano shared greetings (3:34).

The Class of 2025

Eighth-grade team leader and Language Arts teacher Sarah Baker shared some reflections on this class’s time in the Middle School (6:34):

You have had quite the middle school experience. Nearly half of your time in this division has been spent in unprecedented times, yet you’ve thrived. You’ve learned to collaborate effectively while sitting six feet apart, being divided by plastic partitions, and while working with peers on Zoom. You’ve navigated Zoom and other new virtual platforms with ease, and you’ve handled technical difficulties with grace.

You’ve kept your sense of humor, and you’ve learned how to show it despite the masks that have hidden your smiles. You spent the first semester of your eighth-grade year considering ways in which you could change the world, and I have no doubt that once opportunities start opening up for you to volunteer, that many of you will in fact change our world for the better.

You are a class that is easy to celebrate. You have been so grateful for the little things — from First Friday popsicles and donuts to time with your friends taking long recess walks around the quad to monthly club meetings where you appreciated having time to learn a new hobby or perfect a business plan.

Through it all, you’ve supported one another: You helped each other tackle challenging assignments, you encouraged each other when learning new skills, and you offered gentle reminders about unmuting when necessary. I’m grateful to have witnessed your camaraderie and compassion. Your advisors and I are all so proud of you, and we can’t wait to see where the next four years take you!

Next, in keeping with tradition, each eighth-grade advisor recognized their advisees, who are preparing to transition to new experiences and opportunities (8:18). Head of Upper School Aaron Sundstrom then welcomed them all to the Upper School (13:30).

In closing, Head of Middle School Tinnie Salzano commended the Class of 2025 for their “resilience, adaptability, resourcefulness and a growth mindset,” adding, “You are positioned well for your Upper School journey. We are proud of you! And, as we have said all year at the close of our community meetings, ‘Every Raven, Every Day.’ Stay safe and well. Godspeed.”

The program closed with a performance by Sixth-Grade Strings and Middle School Strings (14:50), an arrangement of “Firework” by Katie Perry.

Best wishes to the Class of 2025 as they begin a new chapter in their lives at Ravenscroft!
