Shawn Morrison ’94

Shawn Morrison ’94 is the senior vice president of philanthropy at the YMCA of Greater Richmond where he oversees the development work for an association of seventeen branches, committed to community engagement and social responsibility to all people in the region.

Prior to joining the YMCA in January 2023, Morrison served as the senior director of partner success in the fundraising division of EAB, a higher education marketing and consulting firm. He managed the team that served as the main point of contact for the company’s development partners across the country. This followed his years at The Steward School, a JK-12 independent school in Richmond, Virginia. As the Director of Development, he led fundraising efforts, served as a member of Steward’s executive leadership team and worked with the Board of Trustees and other volunteers on philanthropic engagement. 

Morrison’s introduction to higher education fundraising began with the annual fund at Duke University. His career developed further when he joined the advancement team at his alma mater, University of Richmond, gaining experience as a major gifts officer, director of prospect research and director of annual giving. 

He, his wife, Erica, and their two sons, Manning, and Caleb, live in Richmond.
