August - September
Cristall Harper’s work portrays the beauty of plants and landscapes through her refined and exquisite paint technique. She writes of her love of family, sea-scapes and family pets that inspire her work: “I paint subjects that feel like family. My parents are always present in the florals, my ancestry lives on in the sea-scapes, and my loving pet inspires the dog portraits. I offer my paintings to those who need to feel connected, validated and expressed; I hope they find what they are looking for in my artwork.” Cristall Harper graduated in 2002 from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting.
Upper School Photography Exhibit
This exhibition highlights Photography I, AP Photography and Photo 2 students’ artwork. The students explore pinhole cameras, design through photographs, and black and white film photography. Exploration of the traditional medium of black and white film photography gives the students a foundation for digital work. Students from last spring semester will exhibit their “Joiner” collages done in the style of British artist David Hockney’s photography.

* The Visiting Artist Portfolio Series
Ravenscroft initiated the Visiting Artist Portfolios Series in 1996 in an effort to promote excellence in the visual arts. Sponsored by the Victor E. Bell, III ’74 Endowment Fund, the Portfolio Series invites visiting professional artists and educators from distinguished colleges, universities, and the professional art world to Ravenscroft each year. Artists are selected based on their expertise in a given medium as it relates to our art curriculum. In recent years, the Portfolio Series included painters, printmakers, architects, sculptors, and photographers from higher education programs at Dartmouth College, Swarthmore College, Tyler School of Art, Auburn University, Denison College, the University of Pennsylvania, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Drexel University.
