Tonight Only: Egad, What a Cad!
Posted 02/18/2010 11:44AM

Tonight is your final chance to see the Middle School drama production, "Egad, What a Cad!". The play will be performed at 7 p.m. in the young peoples' theatre. Photos are now online.

Melodrama. Think black and white silent film. Think “exaggerated emotions, stereotypical characters, and interpersonal conflicts.” Think of the heroine tied to the tracks as the train approaches. Think this year’s Middle School play.

Egad, What a Cad! is a melodrama in the classic tradition, and the cast of this year’s Middle School play is thoroughly enjoying the over-the-top fun of acting out the adventures of the heroine and the villain. They are looking forward to sharing the fun with their audiences Feb. 17-18 in the young peoples’ theatre. There is no heroine tied to a train track, but there is plenty of laugh-out-loud drama.

The play, written by Anita Bell, consists of seven characters. Constant will be played by Annabel O'Hagan'15. Milly is played by Grace Berry '16, Ursula is Sabrina Ramusevic '14, Fowler is Anna Taylor '14 and Bertram is played by T Dixon '14. Manly is played by Garrett Anderson '14 and Augustus is David Silver '14. The female understudy is Charlotte Cece '15 and the male understudy is Liam King '15.

The story revolves around the tribulations of Constant Hope, the beautiful young heroine and Bertram Oleander, the cad who pursues her. Of course, the noble hero, Manly Rash, appears just in time to foil the villain.

Don’t miss the fun. Come hiss the villain, and applaud our hero and heroine! The play is directed by Angela Santucci, Middle School drama instructor, who guarantees you’ll enjoy this lively melodrama.
