The
Ravenscroft community, guided by our legacy of excellence, nurtures
individual potential and prepares students to thrive in a complex and
interdependent world.

Welcome!
Thank
you for visiting the Ravenscroft Web site. If you are seeking
information about an independent school education in the Triangle area,
we welcome this opportunity to tell you about our dynamic community.
Our 125-acre campus is situated in North Raleigh, minutes from downtown and other Triangle cities.
Ravenscroft enjoys a rich legacy of educating outstanding students in academics, athletics, fine arts, and leadership.
Founded in 1862, our School has always been an institution that values
the unique interests and abilities of our students and challenges them
to become globally aware citizens. Generations of families call
Ravenscroft their School.
Through the pages of this Web site you will gain insight into the history
of our School, campus life, and the aspects of our
Fine Arts and Athletic programs which truly set us apart. You also will
understand the high caliber of our faculty and administrators, the guidance of our Board of Trustees, and our tremendously supportive parent body.
Ravenscroft
students develop their minds and bodies on our campus, but perhaps more
importantly, they develop their character and leadership skills.
Through their community service and participation in study abroad programs,
student government and club activities, our students explore their
interests and gain the confidence and personal skills they need for
college and beyond.
Ravenscroft has state-of-the-art athletic
fields, an eight-lane track and a modern weight room. This is in
addition to an Olympic-sized indoor pool and four gymnasiums.
The
Fine Arts program includes college-level instructors and applied
lessons faculty, many of whom are performing freelance artists. Our
strings program starts with violin for all kindergarten students and
includes a fully instrumented 65-piece band and 35 Upper School strings
musicians. Our students enjoy performing in the 460-seat Christina B.
Jones Theatre as well as our young peoples’ theatre, an intimate and
flexible black-box style venue.
The School’s continued success depends on our respect for our legacy and our commitment to evolve. Our Strategic Plan,
updated during the 2005-06 school year, is a clear blueprint for growth
and future success. We welcome you to become more familiar with the
Strategic Plan in order to understand the exciting goals we have set.
After you browse our Web site, I encourage you to visit our campus and meet with our Admissions staff, our faculty, students and me. Come and experience Ravenscroft.
Sincerely,
Doreen C. Kelly
Head of School
