Bishop Jered Kalimba, head of the Shogywe Diocese of the Anglican Church, on the western side of Rwanda, and Rev. Jean-Pierre Rukundo, who is in charge of economic development for all the parishes in Shogywe (about 145 churches), visited Ravenscroft on Feb. 2.
They were invited by Dr. Marilee Vana, voice instructor, who has visited Rwanda as a part of the Anglican Mission in the Americas (AMiA). Bishop Kalimba and Rev. Rukundo visited students in an AP French class, enjoyed lunch with several students and faculty members, and were entertained by the Upper School Choir, under the direction of Dr. Vana. They spoke candidly about the genocide of 1994 and the church’s role in the political, social and spiritual healing in Rwanda.
