A Ravenscroft graduate and a current coach and faculty member were among those inducted into the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) Hall of Fame on Sunday, Jan. 24.
Curt Johnson '87 was inducted into the Men's Playing Division of the Hall of Fame. Johnson is also a member of Ravenscroft's Sports Hall of Fame. In his time at the School he was an All-State First Team selection both his junior and senior years. He continued his career at N.C. State University where he was the captain of the 1990 soccer team that won the ACC Championship and advanced to the NCAA semifinals. He is currently Senior Vice President for US Club Soccer.
J.J. Raabe, a Ravenscroft P.E. Instructor, was inducted into the CASL Women's Playing Division. Raabe also coaches the Ravens' JV Boys and Varsity Girls Soccer teams. Raabe was a standout at Broughton High School, leading the Imps to two State Championships and two runner-up finishes. She was a multiple-time All-Conference and All-Region selection and was named Team MVP in 1998. As a CASL player, Raabe captained her Classic Team for five years, and helped her team clinch State Cup victories in both 1994 and 1998. She was the MVP of the State Championship game in both those years and was also the CASL Women's Classic Division MVP in 1996 and 1997. After graduating from Broughton in 1998, she starred at the University of Richmond, where she was a four-time All-Conference selection and the CAA Rookie of the Year.
Also of note, Ravenscroft alumni parent Jim Goodmon was inducted into the CASL Hall of Fame for his contributions to youth soccer in the Triangle.
