Coaches

  • Co-Head Coach
    Alfie Hobbs joined Ravenscroft School in 2015 as an Upper School Computer Science Teacher. He is the Co-Head Coach for Varsity Girls Basketball as well as the Head Coach for JV Girls Soccer. He has also served as the Assistant Coach for JV Boys Soccer. Prior to coming to Ravenscroft Coach Hobbs was an assistant JV Boys Basketball Coach at Carolina Friends School from 2001-2003 and the Head Boys Middle School Basketball Coach at Triangle Day School from 2003-2007.
  • Co-Head Coach
    Payton Hobbs is one of the co-head coaches for the varsity girls’ basketball team. She is a graduate of Duke University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and certification in Elementary Education. Coach Hobbs was a member of the Duke women's basketball team from 1995-1999 and part of the first Lady Blue Devil's team to advance to the NCAA national championship game in 1999. She also played lacrosse at Duke during her freshman year. After graduating from Duke, Coach Hobbs went on to play professional basketball in Saarlouis, Germany before returning to the United States to pursue her passion for education. She attended graduate school, earned a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from North Carolina Central University, and entered the field of education as a first grade teacher. She has also taught Kindergarten and second grade and has served as a curriculum and instruction specialist. Coach Hobbs began her coaching career at North Brunswick High School as an assistant varsity boys’ basketball coach and has coached middle school girls’ basketball at Triangle Day School. Coach Hobbs joined the Ravenscroft community in 2008 as a second grade teacher and assistant coach for our girls’ varsity basketball team. She currently serves as the Head of Lower School in addition to her role as varsity girls’ basketball coach.
