What was your foreign study experience?
I went to Zambia spring of my freshman year. Our group visited three different schools and donated school supplies.
Any special memories of the trip?
I will always remember how excited the kids at the school were to see us every day that we visited. These kids have nothing, yet they were still some of the happiest people I’ve ever met. I learned to never take going to school for granted because some of these kids could not afford to go to school. We also had the chance to tour Victoria Falls and go on three different safaris.
What does playing the bass do for you?
I have a real passion for music. The feeling you get when your ensemble performs a piece to perfection is delightful. When the violins, violas, cellos, and basses all come together after weeks of practice and repetition, it is quite impressive. Music has also helped me to meet new people and I have had wonderful opportunities to play in a wide variety of settings.
Why are sports important to you?
Well, I play three sports — soccer, basketball, and I run track. I like playing and competing in basketball the most because it gives me a chance to bond with my peers outside of the classroom in a more fun way. I am also kind of a small person and it pushes me to the best of my abilities to play against bigger people and have a bigger challenge and obstacle to get through.
When did you realize you wanted to be an actor?
I realized I liked doing theater when I was in kindergarten. I have always loved being in plays and musicals!
Why do you want to be in theater?
First, I love being in front of everyone performing; second, I love expressing myself and that’s a great way to do it; and third, I have always imagined or been the actor in big movies—it is just my dream!
